LONG CASE CLOCK This case has excellent proportion following Edward East's piece made in 1680. The case was veneered with Claro burl walnut over solid Ontario Black Walnut. These two material were joined with marine epoxy resin. Over five thousand pounds per square inch was applied to ensure the joins were intimate. every convex or concave curved part required an opposite form in order to press the veneer. Over the dial door, and both doors are book matches. Above the spiral columns are brass casted cornices. The movement was made in Ireland cerca 1640. Hinges and bullet catches are solid machined brass. An appropriate patina was achieved with a hand rubbed epoxy resin finish.
